Olay Professional Pro-X Intensive Wrinkle Protocol Customer Review
Years ago I was a sales rep for cosmetical ingredients. Meaning that I worked with major companies to bid on what was in their products to sell them and learned many things about them. I worked for no cosmetic company but sold the ingredients they needed to them from a broker who supplied them in large quantities.
Some things are fairly interesting...like the companies who put an inert and non-working ingredient into their products that tingle because we equate "tingling" with doing something. Or those who use cheaper ingredients that are mostly fillers. Or water as the first and primary ingredient. I learned much.
At that time I was always impressed with Olay as a company because, not only did they always seem to purchase quality ingredients and not use fillers as their main ingredients, but their cosmetic scientists seemed to always put whatever was the newest research into the products before others did and at a better price.
As a consumer, I just turned 43. That changes everything, doesn't it? Unfortunately! The changes...are...in my facial lines. And that makes what I put on my face even more important. Because I still read up on what's out there in the market even though I no longer work in that field, I already knew the original Regenerist and the Olay ProX actually did show better results in not only their own tests but many independant ones as well...even ones on the Today show that showed the changes in facial lines measured and photographed for a few weeks on the more expensive lotions and Olay. Google it for info. I'm sure it's all still floating around on the 'net.
I don't remember all lotions it was up against but I do know it beat out La Prarie's 0 moisturizer because we worked with them.
Okay, so knowing all that, I was using the regular Regenerist the most often because, as much as I knew this was the best, I felt it way overpriced when it first came out. However, it's finally gone down and price and it's now my only system.
The ingredients are impressive. The tests on caffeine for wrinkles is VERY recent and extremely impressive. Two years ago, knowing about the test results of this ingredient after reading first hand the comparison I could not, for the life of me, find any skin cream that contained it. Naturally, Olay is the first. It seems when something is impressive on the market, you'd think the top dollar companies would start using it...but I've come to feel that often top dollar companies use the 0 price tags for full page ads in Vogue...because, from someone in the industry, I can say the ingredients Olay uses are better and the test results back it up.
Although I like their other lines, I am one of the odd people who actually uses a cream on half my face to compare results of it when I first get it...having done that, this one helped line elimination far better.
1. sensitivity: I have VERY sensitive skin. I actually refuse antibiotics because they make my face break out like I'm having a second puberty. It seems close to everything makes my face break out. Olay products are one of the very few I can use.
2. sunblock: this is, I know, imperative at my age. However most other moisturizers have minimal sunscreen protection. An spf of 30 is almost unheard of and, in Texas that's a good thing. My doc says I need high sunscreen in my face lotion at my age...this is the highest out there. Actually, anything higher than 30 is inert anyway.
3. moisturizing: There is a noticeable difference in my opinion of just looking at my right side vs left in improvement. Now that's not scientific measurement but it's enough for me to be a believer
5. Scent:non fragranced...thank goodness. Better for your skin
6. Packaging: Because it comes in a pump, you do not contaminate your lotion with bacteria from your hands. Olay has some other products that are not in pumps and I always prefer the pump personally because of this. Far better for your face.
Because of the past studies on Olay and the ingredients they use, I actually used Olay products even when I could get the ones that cost hundreds of dollars more free since I worked in the industry and samples were handed out every day.
Now that I have to pay for my cosmetics and lotions I take the knowledge I gained when buying any kind of acne treatment, moisturizer etc and make my choices on that even more than price.
Actions: full range...cell repair, line minimalization, anti-aging, increases exfoliation rate so you slough off dead skin and regenerate new skin faster, helping to minimize wrinkles and add youthful appearance.
okay so I mentioned the Today show tests against all lotions even the 200 and 100 dollar ones still showed best results in the Prox but here are some other goodies I know of:

NEGATIVES: This is actually the ONLY product I buy now from Proctor and Gamble, which owns Olay. I personally am against some of their recent manufacturing processes which I won't go into here or use this review to debate because, as far as the lotion goes, it's beyond reproach...personally I just wish it was made by someone else. Still, until I find a rival, I can't say the lotion is not the best
